Animal Control oversees 4 sworn deputies. their duties consist of picking up domesticated animals, enforcement of the Davidson County animal ordinance, as well as investigating animal cruelty complaints.

Rabies
Rabies is a fatal but preventable viral disease. It can spread to people and pets if they are bitten or scratched by a rabid animal. In the United States, rabies is mostly found in wild animals like bats, raccoons, skunks, and foxes. However, in many other countries dogs still carry rabies, and most rabies deaths in people around the world are caused by dog bites. The CDC has provided the much-needed information below.
Animal Shelter
The Davidson County Animal Shelter is an open admission facility that is primarily funded by the Davidson County government and donations. We are a shelter established to protect, feed, and house stray, injured, abused, or unwanted animals in this county. The shelter’s vision is to give abandoned and neglected pets a second chance to live long, healthy lives in safe, loving homes and return lost animals to their rightful owners.
